We want to do something good for the environment

Uni-Technology invests in sustainability and green transition

For Uni-Technology, it is only natural that we take responsibility for the greenhouse gas emissions generated by our production. If Denmark is to reach the goal of a 70% CO2 reduction by 2030, we all need to contribute.

Climate-ready Production Company

In July 2022, we carried out Climate-ready Production Compnay, which is a project supported by the Confederation of Danish Industry and the Danish Industry Fondation.

The project strengthens the company’s growth and competitiveness through CO2 accounting in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas protocol (see below), climate strategy and climate communication.

CO2 accounting

In connection with “Climate-ready Production Company”, we made our first CO2 accounts for the base year 2018. We have chosen to use “Klimakompasset” for our CO2 accounts.

The accounts show that our total footprint amounted to 592 tonnes of CO2 equivalent in 2018. This is the starting point for our goal of reducing our emissions by 70% in scope 1 and 2 by 2030.

Our next CO2 accounts will be for 2022, where we will also publish our first climate report. It will be interesting to see how much we have reduced our CO2 emissions.

Science Based Target initiative (SBTi)

SBTi is a collaborationbetween Carbon Disclosure Project, World Resources Institute, WWF Verdensnaturfonden and FN Global Compact. The initiative is designed topromote ambitious climate action in the private sector by mobilising companies to set CO2 reduction targets in line wiht climate research recommendations.

Through our commitment to SBTi, we commit to:

  • Reduce our climate footprint in scope 1 and 2 by at least 50% by 2030
  • Monitor and reduce our scope 3 footprint
  • Report annually on our emissions and progress towards the targets

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) protocol

The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) protocol is the leading international standard for how CO2 emissions should be quantified and reported as CO2 equivalents under three different types of emissions, referred to as Scope 1, 2 and 3.

Scope 1
Direct emissions from the company’s processes.

Scope 2
Indirect emissions from supplied energy

Scope 3
Indirect emissions from the company’s value chain, both upstream and downstream.

We support UN’s Sustainable Developments Goals

The UN Sustainable Development Goals constitute an important basis for developing the world in a responsible and sustainable way.

We support all the goals, but we have chosen that 2 of them should be an active part of our way of doing business.

Uni-Technology is committed to reducing the use of resources in production.

  • We focus on buying green
  • Minimise waste and unnecessary use of e.g., air transport and other highly high emission activities
  • Optimise our energy consumption
  • Increase recycling to the greatest extent possible
  • Handle chemicals responsibly
  • Sort our waste

Uni-Technology is affiliated with SBTi and thus undertakes to

  • Reduce CO2 emissions by at least 50% in scope 1 and 2 by 2030
  • Measure and report CO2 emissions in all 3 scopes in our annual climate report
  • Launch initiatives to reduce emissions in all 3 scopes in cooperation with our suppliers.
